Welcome to Ditchling
Nestling happily in the South Downs, Ditchling is a peaceful and fascinating resting place for walkers, cyclists, travellers and art lovers - both from near and far.
At first glance Ditchling is a picturesque, traditional East Sussex village which has witnessed few changes over the last couple of centuries. Its sleepy appearance belies the vibrant and creative communities which have historically called it home, and continue to do so today.
The village is the ideal base for tourists visiting the South Downs, with its welcoming pubs, cafés and shops – it even has its very own Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft, celebrating the work of 20th century inhabitants such as Eric Gill, Edward Johnston, David Jones, Frank Brangwyn and Ethel Mairet.
Brighton is just 7 miles to the South, Lewes 7 miles to the East, and the much-loved Ditchling Beacon provides a majestic backdrop.
