Ditchling is surrounded by farms, vineyards and independent food producers, meaning that whether you’re after a quick sandwich or a three-course dinner, you’ll eat fantastic, locally-sourced food prepared with real love.
The Green Welly
Loved by cyclists, walkers and villagers alike, the Green Welly is at the very heart of the village, serving up sinful cakes, healthy salads, buttery pastries and everything inbetween. On sunny days the courtyard garden is the perfect spot for lunch, in cooler weather settle in for hot soup, savoury tarts and warming hot chocolate.
The Nutmeg Tree
A classic village tea room that oozes 1940’s style, the Nutmeg Tree is the perfect place to fuel up for a walk or bike ride, or for an indulgent, old-school lunch. Breakfasts are fantastic – from full fry-ups (with good veggie options) to hot buttered crumpets, and if you’re after a picnic there are fresh pasties and sausage rolls to take away.
The White Horse
A cold beer in the delightful walled garden at the White Horse is a must in the summer months, but whatever time of year Kirsty and the team welcome locals and visitors alike, for hearty pub classics – from fish and chips to succulent burgers, vegan treats, sharing boards and and well-kept beers and wines.
Well cared for beers with a frequently changing guest ale tap which often shines a spotlight on local brewers and a generously stocked bar, offering a reassuring blend of traditional spirits brands and UK craft distillers.
Head Chef Steve’s menu boasts traditional dishes, with a twist of innovation; packed with flavour and nostalgia in abundance.
Ridgeview Wine Estate
A multi award-winning winery, Ridgeview produces sparkling wines from vines that share the same soil strata as the French champagne region. Pop in for a tour of the vineyards, a tasting session or savour the flavours of the season at The Rows & Vine, the new restaurant at Ridgeview, opened on 12 August 2022. Transformed into a dazzling winter dining space by their Chardonnay vineyard, it’s the perfect spot to sip, savour and celebrate.
Court Garden Vineyard & Winery
A small family-run, international award-winning single vineyard estate set on a beautiful south-facing slope with the South Downs as a backdrop. We produce both still and sparkling wines from only the grapes we grow on our vineyard in Ditchling. We offer tours, tastings and a venue for weddings and events.
